My name is Nana Afrah, and I am the creator and face behind this book blog. The idea for ReadsByAfrah started as a bookstagram 3 years ago. I was home indefinitely because of the pandemic and with nothing else to do, I rediscovered my love for reading and decided to share my thoughts on the books I read. Since then, I have partnered with several authors and bookstores to share many stories to readers.

ReadsByAfrah has grown exponentially since then, and I decided to expand the Instagram community to this website where I could reach a wider audience with my thoughts and recommendations.

Reading changed my life and shaped my mind. It has been a part of me since I was a little girl. It gave me a community of readers I never knew existed, and I am so glad to welcome you to this side of the internet.

A peek into my personal life

I live in Accra, Ghana and I double-time as a medical student. In the rare times I am not reading, you’ll find me studying really hard for an exam or trying out new foods with my friends.

Reading goals

My purpose for this blog is to introduce you to diverse authors, and different genres you never considered. My primary aim for this is to leave you with a renewed passion for reading; either rediscovering your childhood love for reading or building a new habit of finding joy between the pages of a book.

Favorite genres

I read widely and diversely, but the stories I find myself coming back to are contemporary African fiction. I love seeing my life and experiences as an African woman represented in stories and you’ll often finding me recommending an African author.

I am also a romance girlie through and through; love is a light that shines brightly in this cold, dark world. The longing, pining, second chances, first kiss- give me all of it!

I hope you find joy and bliss here. I am excited to share this with you, and I hope you stick around.
